English: The woodchat shrike
Српски / srpski: Srpski naziv
crvenoglavi svračak Opis vrste D.t.17-19 cm. Gnezdeći areal obuhvata mediteransku Evropu, delove Male Azije, Bliskog Istoka i severne Afrike. Selica je. Zimu provodi u Africi južno od Sahare. Staništa su mu livade, pašnjaci i čistine sa žbunjem i usamljenim drvećem u mediteranskim i submediteranskim ekosistemima. Gnezda gradi na žbunju i niskom drveću. Hrani se pretežno različitim vrstama krupnih insekata (skakavci, tvrdokrilci i sl), dok ređe lovi guštere i druge male kičmenjake. Ugrožen je nestankom staništa usled intenziviranja poljoprivrede. U Srbiji predstavlja redovnu gnezdaricu juga zemlje, sa populacijom procenjenom na 130-210 gnezdećih parova (Puzović et al 2009).
