Description
English: Lanning Fountain (In Memory of a Beautiful Life), Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, USA.
American sculptor Nellie Verne Walker (1874–1973) modeled this life-sized statue after Marguerite, a c.1886 statuette by Jean Gautherin (French, 1840 - 1890).[1] It was erected in 1911 in memory of Mary Tomlinson Lanning, class of 1912. A copy of the statue adorns Lanning's grave in Hastings, Nebraska.
