Summary edit
DescriptionLanterns celebrating Ghost Festival.jpg |
English: Traditional architecture with lanterns celebrating the Ghost Festival (Hungry Ghost Festival), Taipei, Taiwan.
People believe that ghosts come back during the season (around July 15th in Lunar calendar), so they prepare food for the ghosts and decorate the streets to welcome them. The Taoist religion is still widely practiced in Taiwan, although many traditional festivals are gradually disappearing in China mainland.中文(臺灣):很多漢人傳統節慶在台灣生根,但在中國本土已漸漸失傳。
