Title
English: Large log bound for Chicago World's Fair, Seattle, 1893
Description
English:

In 1893, the city of Chicago welcomed nearly 21.4 million visitors to the World's Columbian Exposition, a world's fair held to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the landing of Columbus. To promote its wood products industry to the fairgoers, the state of Washington displayed an immense log. In this 1893 photo, taken on Seattle's Railroad Avenue, a group of men gathers to look at the state of Washington's exhibition log before the train hauls it to the Chicago world's fair.
