Description
Deutsch: Restauriertes, kleines Wasserkraftwerk in Offenhausen, Schwäbische Alb. Hinter der Mauer des ehemaligen Frauenklosters liegt der gestaute Quellsee der Lauterquelle. Das Quellwasser stürzt mit einer Schüttung von ca. 200 bis 1500 l/s 3 m tiefer in eine Wasserturbine, die Strom erzeugt. Ein halbes Jahrtausend wurde die Wasserkraft für Mühlenbetrieb genutzt, dann wurde an gleicher Stelle ein Pumphaus errichtet. Der Betrieb als kleines Wasserkraftwerk lief von 1955 bis 1976. Maschinenhaus und Technik wurden vom „Verein zur Reaktivierung und Betrieb des Kraftwerks Offenhausen (KWO) e.V“ restauriert, auch mit Mitteln eines PLENUM-Projektes und liefert seit 2006 wieder Strom. Es ist auch zu bestimmten Zeiten für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich.

English: Old, small hydroelectric powerstation in Offenhausen (Gomadingen), Swabian Alb, which generatedelectricity from 1955-1976. Behind the wall of a former women’s monastery| lies the beautiful lake of the karst spring of the Große Lauter. A private initiative restored the plant. Since 2006 the powerstation generates electricity again.
