Description

La salle d'audience ou du Conclave du Palais des Papes de Viterbe


Le Palais des Papes est le monument le plus important de Viterbe. Il a été construit quand le Pape Alexandre IV a décidé de transférer le siège de la Curie Pontificale à Viterbe en 1257. Viterbe est resté le siège pontifical jusqu'en 1281

Le Palais d'origine comprenait un bâtiment pour la Curie et une grande salle d'audience ou salle du Conclave. Une exposition retrace l'histoire de la Papauté à Viterbe.

Le Palais et notamment la salle d'audience ont subi de nombreuses transformations au cours des siècles.
