Un nouveau bâtiment du Kunstmuseum de Bâle (photo ci-dessus) a vu le jour en face du bâtiment principal. Relié à ce dernier par un passage souterrain, il est destiné aux expositions temporaires et aux présentations de la collection. Conçu par le bureau d’architectes bâlois Christ & Gantenbein, le nouveau bâtiment figure désormais parmi les réalisations architecturales emblématiques de la ville de Bâle. Depuis mi-avril 2016, date de l’inauguration du nouveau bâtiment et du bâtiment principal rénové, le Kunstmuseum Basel dispose de trois espaces d’exposition. extrait du site officiel <a href="http://www.kunstmuseumbasel.ch/fr/le-kunstmuseum-basel/" rel="nofollow">www.kunstmuseumbasel.ch/fr/le-kunstmuseum-basel/</a> Les concepteurs du nouveau bâtiment (l'agence suisse d'architecture Christ & Gantenbein et le design group iart) ont privilégié les teintes grises (briques, béton, marbres veinés..) et métalliques (couleur du zinc), et un design très dépouillé, ce qui rend l'ambiance austère mais neutre vis à vis des oeuvres contemporaines exposées. Un escalier un peu massif occupe l'espace central, il permet l'accès aux salles d'exposition dans lesquelles il est interdit de photographier. Les portes des salles d'exposition comme les fenêtres extérieures sont à claires-voies, ce qui donne une touche de fantaisie bienvenue.
