Description

Le temple khmer

Conçu par Alexandre MARCEL (1860-1928), entre 1899 et 1910, un célèbre architecte français spécialisé dans les styles asiatiques, le parc oriental a été acheté et remis en état par la commune de Maulévrier. Il est géré par une association. Le parc est reconnu comme le plus grand parc d’inspiration japonaise en Europe (période Edo)

Alexandre Marcel a notamment conçu le pavillon du Cambodge de l'exposition universelle de 1900

Le temple khmer faisait partie du Pavillon. Il a été remonté sur place à Maulévrier. Il s'agit d'une fausse ruine. C'est devenu un lieu de rencontre pour les Cambodgiens de la région.

Les statues à l'entrée du temple représentent le Dieu Vishnu, à droite et sa parèdre la déesse Lakshmi, à gauche.
