| Description |
2013 Czech Republic Trip Day Two The short branch from Břeclav to Lednice lost its regular passenger service in 2009. As such the service has been reduced to four return workings on weekends and public holidays from March to September. This is mainly to cater for tourist traffic to the UNESCO site of Lednice castle and its gardens. A historic single railcar M131.1463 is used on most trains. This dates back to 1948 and bears the original wooden slatted seats. The driver is provided with a basic stool in his cab. Taken on 12 May 2013, M131.1463 rests between workings prior to departure on train Os24523, 12:25 Lednice to Břeclav. Passenger loadings on the trains I used up and back were, well, lightly used and normal tickets were valid despite "special" traction being provided. Note the station building behind and the ornate brickwork. |
