Description
English: Captain Leon Francis "Lee" Ellis, USAF, in front of a McDonnell F-4C Phantom II (s/n 63-0795) at Da Nang Air Base, Vietnam. Ellis deployed to Southeast Asia in July 1967, and served with the 390th Tactical Fighter Squadron of the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing at Da Nang until he was forced to eject over North Vietnam while flying his 68th combat mission on 7 November 1967 (in F-4C 63-7600). After spending 1,955 days in captivity, Capt. Ellis was released on 14 March 1973.
The F-4C 63-0795 itself had been lost on 4 November 1967.
