DescriptionLee Kyeong yun. Scholar under the pine tree. 16th c. Ewha Womans University Museum.jpg |
English: Lee Kyeong yun. Scholar under the pine tree. 16th c. Ewha Womans University Museum. Note from the the museum : This simple and refined black ink painting from the mid-Joseon era was influenced by the Zhejiang School of the Ming Dynasty. It comes with the critique written by Kim Gwang-guk, a civil official, on its left. The remarks gave harsh words, stating that the painting by Lee Gyeong-yun was not on par with those of Jeong Sun or Sim Sa-jeong ; however, it is notewothy that Kim Gwang-guk himself selected the painting for commentary. The phrase on the seal is an excerpt : « Reading a new book is like meeting a good friend. Reading the book once again is to meet an old friend. »
