Description While much of Province House has been turned over to Parks Canada to serve as a memorial to the Charlottetown Conference, the Legislative Assembly Chamber is still used by Prince Edward Island's legislature to this day. The ornate chair in the center of the room belongs to the Speaker. Typically, the government sits to the Speaker's left (not pictured), while the opposition sits to his right. However, because the Liberals currently have a majority of 24-3, the Liberal backbenchers have spilled over to the right side as well. Only the three seats closest to the Speaker actually belong to the Progressive Conservatives. During the Charlottetown Conference, a ball for the delegates was held in the Legislative Assembly Chamber.
