editDescriptionLego Space - Set 6880 Surface Explorer (1982).jpg |
Set 6880, Surface Explorer, is a 1982 release with 82 pieces and one yellow astronaut minifigure. It has some updated design elements, such as the hollow radar dish and Technic axles, that were not seen in earlier Space sets. It portrays a double-ended vehicle, with a claw and a scoop, that can go out on the lunar terrain and collect material samples. The completed set. The design reminds me of a scorpion, honestly. The tire arrangement is quite unique and memorable. For material samples, three pieces were originally provided with this set: two 1x1 yellow tiles, and one black antenna piece. This example is missing the black antenna piece. |
