Title
Latina: Legulae Mensalis
Description
Latina: Cochlearium (sub nomine lingula mensalis) ex Regulbio in Britannia
English: A depiction of a Roman snail spoon (cochlearium) mislabeled as a table spoon (lingula mensalis) recovered from the former Roman fort of Regulbium near Reculver from Moll's map of Kent, sold separately and as Map 13 in his Set of Fifty New and Correct Maps of England and Wales... Moll seems to have mixed up the labels of two adjacent spoons, but the long thin handle shown is distinct to cochlearia, with some believing they were used in some way to extract snails from their shells.

Notes: London: Sold by H. Moll over-against Devereux-Court in the Strand; Tho. Bowles, Print and Map-Seller near the Chapter-House in St. Paul's Church-Yard, and J. Bowles Print and Map-Seller over-against Stocks-Market. 1724.
