Description
English: Monument to Polish pilots by Brzózka Marek (2013) in Szentes, Csongrád County, Hungary- Story: On August 1, 1944, six British Halifax aircraft of the Royal Air Force set off from Brindisi, Italy, to supply supplies to the Warsaw Uprising. On the way back, one of the Halifaxes with Polish crew was broke down near Szolnok (circa 60km north of Szentes). At that time, the pilot tried to direct the plane to the partisan-dominated Yugoslavia, but was shot down by the Szentes Tisza Bridge's air defense. The plane crashed into the ground near the Szentes Barracks.
