Inaugurée en novembre 1958, la Maison de l'Unesco a été conçue par l'Américain Marcel Breuer, l'Italien Pier Luigi Nervi et le Français Bernard Zehrfuss, dont les plans ont été approuvés par des ténors de l'architecture mondiale, parmi lesquels Le Corbusier et Walter Gropius.
