Français : Les gardes d'honneur au combat de Reims, le 13 mars 1814. Alors que les Russes résistent encore dans le faubourg de Vesle, Napoléon envoie le 3e régiment de gardes d'honneur, commandé par le colonel-major Belmont-Briançon, pour décider de la victoire. Conduits par le général de Ségur, les cavaliers français culbutent tout d'abord les dragons russes qui tentaient de s'opposer, puis entrent dans le faubourg et engagent le combat contre les grenadiers du régiment de Riazan. L'affrontement est intense, le colonel Belmont-Briançon est tué et le général de Ségur tombe blessé à ses côtés. Les gardes d'honneur s'emparent d'une batterie d'artillerie et libèrent finalement le faubourg après l'arrivée des cuirassiers de Bordesoulle et de la cavalerie de la Garde. Napoléon leur octroie l'honneur d'entrer les premiers dans la ville de Reims évacuée par les coalisés. Au fond sont visibles les tours de la catéhdrale de Reims et la basilique st-Remi. |
