English: "About my advancement: You must remember that the Marine Corps is a very small organization-about 35,000 at the present time. All enlistments are voluntary, we do not accept draftees, conscriptees or selectees. In fact the regulars have nothing to do with the reserves, both officers and enlisted men. The popular belief-our own-is that a regular captain in the Army wouldn’t make a good private in the Marine Corps. The Marines have another saying for it to the effect that an Army captain wouldn’t make a wart on a good Marine Private’s ass. What I’m trying to say is that the army isn’t as choosey as we. They can’t afford to be. Why there are more sergeants in the army"
