English: Letter from Rabbi Samson Refael Hirsch. Spiekeroog, 1846. 1 large leaf. 20x32 cm. Written in German, all in the hand and with the signature of Rabbi Hirsch.
עברית: מכתב מאת הרב שמשון רפאל הירש. SPIEKEROOG , 1846. נכתב בגרמנית, כולו בכתב ידו ובחתימתו של הרב הירש. המכתב אודות מינוי סגן לרבנותו של הרב הירש בקהילה הנ"ל. זו היתה תקופת רבנותו השניה. ביום ז' חשון תר"ב (1841) הוכתר כרב ראשי של מחוז אוסטפריזלנד אשר בהנובר. ומושב רבנותו היה בקהילת עמדין. הרב הירש היה אז בן 34 שנה. רבנותו היתה על כעשר קהילות נוספות. המכתב מיום 5 באוגוסט 1846 (תר"ו), נכתב בהיותו בקהילת SPIEKEROOG, אודות מינוי הרב ד"ר ליפמן שהיה מורה הקהילה, להיות גם 'אונטער רבינר'. דהיינו סגן הרב לעיניני הקהילה שם. בחתימתו הוא מציין את תוארו 'רב המחוז'. למרות שהמכתב נשלח גם אל ראשי השלטון, כתב הרב בראש המכתב בעברית - ב"ה. בשנת תר"ז (1847) נבחר כרבה של ניקלשבורג, ולאחר מכן הגיע כידוע להיות רבה של פרנקפורט דמיין. כתובת הנמען, וחותמות הדואר בצד החיצוני של המכתב, חותמת דואר אחת משופשפת..
