Description
English: Stained Glass Window in the town church at Sainte-Mère-Église. Note the representations, in addition to the Madonna and Child, of paratroopers and the general design of parachutes falling on the town in the background. Sainte-Mère-Église, in Normandy, France, was liberated on June 6, 1944 (D-Day) by US Paratroopers who landed directly in the town and the environs in the early morning of the D-Day Invasion to prepare the area for the land invasion by sea. The window was dedicated to the liberators and was designed by Paul Renaud (who was 14 years old at the time of the liberation). The window was created by artist Gabriel Loire.
