English: The North Reading Room. The mural is "The Open Book" by Ella Condie Lamb which she created especially for the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library. The mural depicts a mother surrounded by her children and is meant to convey that books are the source of knowledge. The artist used her own four children as models with a fifth added per Emma Taylor Flower's wishes. This child, on the lap of the mother, was a memorial to Mrs. Taylor's son who had died in infancy.
