Deutsch: 1: Die Hexen weissagen Macbeth eine Königskrone.
»Macbeth« ist der Name eines der besten Dramen Shakespeares. Es behandelt die Schicksale des schottischen Feldherrn Macbeth, der seinen König Duncan ermordete und sich selbst zum König machte. Die Idee des Königsmordes wurde Macbeth nach dem Shakespeareschen Drama von Hexen eingegeben, die ihm auf der Rückkehr von einem siegreichen Feldzuge erschienen und ihm die Würde eines »Thans von Cawdor« und sogar eine Königskrone verhießen. Banquo, sein Begleiter, der die Hexen um sein eigenes Schicksal befragte, sollte der Vater von Königen sein.
