Light railways are largely used in the new defences of the Sues Canal. Describing the scene recently, Mr. W. T. Massey writes : " Prudence prompted our Command to construct numerous light railways on the eastern side of the Canal, and to lay an elaborate system of pipe-lines for the water-supply.
