Summary edit

Description

There's a B&W photo by a 1930s English surrealist called 'Portrait of Mrs Sinkins' showing a tuft of grass-like foliage. It's mystifying unless you happen to be a gardener, in which case you'll know that Mrs Sinkins is the name of a variety of Dianthus. A very English sort of surrealism.

Isn't it a bit weird though - to see a plant like this - one of the excellent hybrids of L.martagon and hansonii and say - 'Oh that's Mrs R.O.Backhouse'? Or is it just me who finds that so odd?
