Description
English: Lincoln, The Frontiersman. This heroic bronze monument, created by Avard T. Fairbanks to fulfilled the wishes of a school teacher who left a small sum in her will for a statue to inspire students at the Ewa Plantation School in Hawaii. It was created in 1942, but World War II priorities delayed its erection and dedication until 1944. The statue portrays a young Lincoln felling timber to split rails for fences.

American sculptor of both free-standing pieces and friezes. Numerous works for the LDS Church or about Mormonism related topics, including works incorporated in several temples. Sculpted the original ram hood ornament featured on Dodge cars and trucks from 1932 to 1954. Taught sculpting at University of Oregon, University of Michigan, and University of Utah.
