Description
English: Linlithgow. Steep street, Lion Well Wynd, leading down to the High Street with the loch beyond. Tucked into the very corner of the square. One of four wynds named after their wells, the others being Dog Well Wynd, New Well Wynd and St Michael's Wynd. The latter has the best preserved of the wells, topped by a 1720 statue of St Michael with the motto, "St Michael is kinde (sic) to strangers". Further information supplied by Alastair Gentleman.
