| Description |
English: Little Stoke. Presume the mast broadcasts Sunshine Radio, Ludlow, Leominster and Tenbury's local radio station. Started out c. 1984 as a pirate station in protest at the lack of local radio for anywhere in the border country. The "local" stations then were all West Midland based and totally irrelevant - about as "local" as London. Point made, they went off the air and applied successfully for a licence. Been back as a legitimate local station for many years now. The old transmitter was on the same farm. Quite fun finding out about the station, was tuning a new radio when I heard a drinking companion's voice - he was slagging off Big Country's Steeltown album. I quite like it. |
