Description
English: The Memorial School of Arts is a two storey Inter-War Georgian Revival building. It is a well proportioned, symmetrical building with a hipped tiled roof and central single storey brick entrance portico. The walls are constructed of brick and feature facebrick finish to the lower level, and roughcast stucco relieved with facebrick quoins and window dressings on the first floor. The timber double hung windows are multi-paned - those on the ground floor being the tripartite Venetian type with the central portion emphasised with a semi-circular arched head supported on cement pilasters.

The Memorial School of Arts demonstrates the development of a prominent institutional, recreational and educational facility in Liverpool. The site is associated with Major General Cox, L. J. Ashcroft and the World War 1 Veterans of Liverpool. The building is a fine example of a public building of its era, indicating a level of technical achievement and creativity in its design and construction. It is representative of a public building from the Inter-War era which exhibits the influence of the Georgian Revival style, now rare within the Liverpool area.
