Description
English: The Old Point Loma Lighthouse is located on the Point Loma peninsula at the mouth of San Diego Bay in San Diego, California. It is now a museum, and the living quarters (photographed through a pane of protective glass) shows life as it was in 1855. The longest serving lighthouse keeper was Robert Decatur Israel who served for eighteen years, and the top of the lighthouse was an active family home. The children rowed across the bay to Old Town San Diego each day to attend school. The lighthouse is part of the Cabrillo National Monument, and it is on the United States National Register of Historic Places.
