Description
English: Llantysilio - the end of the "Llangollen" Canal. Built as a water feeder from the Dee for the Ellesmere Canal main line, this was not really intended for navigation this far up, and is very narrow with no turning or passing place. Enthusiasts have reached the far end, however. One was the photographer's brother in 1971: "Plenty of water all the way up and in some places deeper than the ‘official’ canal; strong current running: no silt. Boat gently bumped the brick wall of the sluice gate house and we realized we could go no further". He had to reverse for 15 minutes before turning.
