Summary edit

Description
English: Lloyd Loar from a c.1920 Chautauqua circuit brochure, in the collections of the University of Iowa. Dated from the names of the members listed in the brochure, Fisher Shipp, Rachel Major, Roma Swarthout, Lloyd Loar. Comparisons to the newspapers brought this name combination up only in 1920 at this article. Loar's instrument was supposed to have been custom made for him by Gibson. Gibson's own website says that he "commissioned a custom 10-string mando-viola of his own creation from the company's luthiers." This photo was identified by Roger Siminov as being that instrument (11th photo down).
