Cymraeg: Cronfa ddŵr gerllaw pentref Tanygrisiau yn ardal Blaenau Ffestiniog yng Ngwynedd yw Llyn Stwlan. Saif y llyn yn y bwlch rhwng copaon y Moelwyn Mawr a'r Moelwyn Bach, 1,570 troedfedd uwch lefel y môr.
Yn wreiddiol roedd Llyn Stwlan yn llyn naturiol bychan. Adeiladwyd yr argae i ffurfio'r llyn presennol fel rhan o gynllun cynhyrchu trydan dŵr Tanygrisiau yn niwedd y 1950au, a agorwyd yn swyddogol yn 1961. Mae gan y llyn yn awr arwynebedd o 22 acer. Mae'r orsaf bŵer yma yn defnyddio trydan ar adegau pan nad oes cymaint o alw amdano i bwmpio dŵr o Lyn Tanygrisiau islaw i fyny i Lyn Stwlan. Pan fo mwy o alw am drydan, mae'r dŵr yn cael ei ollwng yn ôl i lawr i gynhyrchu trydan. Oherwydd hyn mae lefel y llyn yn amrywio yn fawr.
English: Llyn Stwlan is partly a man-made reservoir above the village of Tanygrisiau in the Blaenau Ffestiniog area, Gwynedd in the country of Wales. The lake stands in the gap between the peaks of Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach, 1,570 feet above sea level.
Llyn Stwlan was originally a small natural lake. The dam was built to form the current lake as part of the Tanygrisiau hydroelectricity production scheme in the late 1950s, which was officially opened in 1961. Today, the lake has an area of 22 acres. This power station uses electricity at times when there is not so much demand for it to pump water from Lake Tanygrisiau below back up to Llyn Stwlan. When there is more demand for electricity, the water is pumped back down to generate electricity. Because of this the level of the lake varies greatly. [From cy-wiki] |
