To the north (the right of the photo) lies Craighalloch Moor and the Fell of Craighalloch- the old pronunciation of Keryhalloch suggests the name is derived from Gaelic 'ceathramh an teallaich' - quarter-land of the forge (from Place Names of the Wigtownshire Moors and Machars by John McQueen). |
