w/ complimentary Continental DC-10 tail.... Honolulu. This photo is from Honolulu and several hints make that clear. 1) I'm not looking through a window. This is at Honolulu airport, where there were big, open, walkways that gentle breezes wafted through. 2) Continental DC-10. I never remember seeing a Continental DC-10 at SFO. Ever. Whereas, Continental was and remains (as merged with United) a big player in airline routes across the Pacific. Not saying they didn't go there, but to have one casually in the photo suggests to me that this is not SFO. 3) If this is SFO, where am I? Never mind the lack of glass in the way, where can you go in SFO and see a maintenance hanger in the far distance and no further landmass. Just flat stuff until the big cloud bank. At any gate in SFO, if you can see East, you'll see United's maintenance hangers, the fuel farm, the bay, Bay Farm Island, Alameda Island and Oakland. I've got many pix from SFO itself, not just the public shoreline, and you won't see anything like this from a boarding gate. If you can see South, there's a large, flat, area of San Francisco Bay, but the Fremont hills would be on left, and San Mateo bridge in the distance. And the only thing at the end of runways 28 is the fire station. There is no big building like this shows, nor are there runways or taxiways that look like this. 4) Were all that not enough, in a related picture you can see the Hawaiian Airlines catering truck getting ready to top off the rubber chickens for ATA. There may be code-sharing with Hawaiian at SFO, but its another airline I can't remember seeing there. LA? Sure, all the time. Oakland, yes. SFO? Mmm, not so much. 5) Where in SFO would you see this cloud pattern and a big, flat view into the distance? In Honolulu, the cloudbank in the distance is over the ocean, and the runways go left and right across the width of this photo- WAY out there. B02 |
