| Description |
English: London Blackfriars railway station Opened by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway in 1886 as St Paul's railway station, Blackfriars acquired its present name in 1937. The top of the eponymous St Paul's Cathedral can just be seen on the right. The through Thameslink tracks leading to and from Farringdon are on the left, while the terminus tracks serving stations in Kent and South London are on the right. The trainshed roof and span on the left are different to those on the right and appear to be a later addition. The person with the yellow paint pot has been busy, although curiously only to warn boarding passengers. Alighting travellers may presumably get an unexpected surprise. |
