Description
English: This is a photo of a London pattern anvil made in the mid 19th century. It is a prime example of wrought iron bodied, steel faced anvil. This style of anvil is typical of that used by blacksmiths in North America, England, and other English possessions. This particular anvil was made by Peter Wright. These were exported from England in large quantities in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is marked in stone weight system.
