English: Here's the view back down the path to Black Mountain Lookout after the first turn. The mountain with a touch of snow on top on the horizon right of center (in July!) is San Gorgonio.
Black Mountain Fire Lookout is in the San Bernardino National Forest, just north of Idyllwild, California, at 7700 ft, lat. 33.8242, lon. -116.7576, on a very scenic boulder-strewn mountain. The USFS web page for this tower is: www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/sbnf/recarea/?recid=71975 A hike to this tower is described here: modernhiker.com/hike/hike-to-black-mountain-lookout/ |
