Italiano: L’opera è ricordata nel minuzioso Libro dei Conti in cui l'artista annotava il proprio lavoro: sappiamo così che il personaggio è "mastro Batista balestrier dela Rocha" e che il quadro venne dipinto ad Ancona nel 1551-52. Lotto - uno dei protagonisti della pittura del Cinquecento e, nello stesso tempo, una figura appartata - dimostra qui le sue eccezionali doti di ritrattista e la sua capacità di superare i più consueti schemi retorici. |
