Summary edit

Description Lot-2058-1: Workers on the Rickenbacker Rescue Boat. A life raft built by Mrs. May E. Thompson and Robert S. Barnhart was one of the two on which Captain Eddie Rickenbacker and six members of his crew drifted for three weeks, beginning in October 1942, in the Pacific before being picked up. Said Barnhart, when informed of the part they had played in the rescue, “It makes a fellow mighty happy to know that something he has done in the war effort has really cashed in.” Office of War Information Photograph.
