Description Lot 9609-34: Royal Navy (British) during the First World War. Dardanelles Campaign. Royal Navy M class destroyer HMS Mounsey, starboard side, anchored. She rescued U.S. Trops from SS Otranto during a storm on October 6, 1918. Lieutenant Commander Draven, the commanding officer, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross by the U.S. for his gallantry in bringing Mousey alongside and saving 676 servicemembers. Collection was transferred from a British government source in 1920 to the Library of Congress. (9/18/2015).
