English: Written on photograph: Sept '95. You know them. Virginia [illegible]. Written on verso: From left to right Lou Hayward, "Deck" Brody, and Semple Ames on the Virginia. PH Coll 1120.89Henry Semple Ames (1863-1916) was the eldest son of Edgar Ames (1824-1867) and Lucy Virginia Semple Ames (1836-1929). As well as acting as secretary of the Ames Realty Company, he was also president of the St. Louis and Meramec River Railroad Company, the Ames Steel Lath Company, and Northwestern Expanded Metal Company, and vice president of Bee Line Construction Company and the Mississippi Valley Trust Company.
