Description
English:

Typed letter, black text on white paper.

Pennsylvania Centennial Commission Gettysburg, PA March 29, 1963 Rep. John A. May, Chairman South Carolina Confederate War Centennial Commission P.O. Box 612 Aiken, South Carolina Thank you for your letter of March 18. I am looking forward to the opportunity of meeting with you on April 19 and 20. As you will note from the enclosed letter to the Cape Fear Hotel, I am confirming the reservation you have so kindly made for me. Yesterday I called Mr. Williams to tell him of accommodations that can be procured for Governor Russell and his family as well as the entire South Carolina delegation at the Mt. Manor Hotel, Emmitsburg, Maryland. It is only ten miles from Gettysburg. There is nothing in Gettysburg that can accommodate a group as large as that coming from South Carolina and since an official car will be provided for the Governors and police escort for official delegation, I believe the arrangements will be satisfactory. We have received the photograph of the monument and the proposed inscription. As soon as we have word from the National Park Service that everything is approved, we will send out a news release. Cordially yours Louis M. Simon CC: Gen Milton Baker Mr. Payne Williams Mr. Henry Scharf Mr. Clayton Jester Mr. S.G. Sollenberger
