Description

Das Gemälde zeigt eine Episode aus der Vita des Hl. Rochus. Es wurde von Louise Seidler nach einer Skizze Goethes angefertigt. Es befindet sich heute in der Grabkapelle des Erbauers der neuen Rochuskapelle, Pfarrer Engelhardt.

Vermerk von 1819: “Das Gemälde St. Rochus wurde vom Großherzoglichen Hof in Sachsen-Weimar angeliefert. Es ist von einem lutherischen adeligen Fräulein namens Luise Seidler gemalt worden. Der Name steht auf der Seite des Bildes neben den Worten ‘Ex Voto’. [zitiert nach Krasenbrink/Redenius: Goethes Reisen an den Mittelrhein, hrsg. von der St. Rochusbruderschaft, Bingen]
