Lowgill Viaduct carried the 'Lancaster & Carlisle' railway between the West Coast Main Line at Lowgill to Clapham at which point it joined the 'North Western' line which still runs between Carnforth and Settle. The railway at the bridge shown above opened in 1861 and closed in 1966. |
