Qualora trattasi di zyklon - dato non specificato - è del tutto improprio definirlo gas asfissiante trattandosi in effetti di insetticida industriale largamente usato fin dalla prima Guerra mondiale per la sterlizzazione di ambienti, indumenti etc. Non si capisce perchè I tedeschi debbano aver usato un antiparassitario ad azione non tanto rapida per eliminazioni di massa, quando fin dagli anni '30 avevano scoperto e prodotto in larga scala i ben più efficaci gas nervini "tabun" e "sarin"decisamente più adatti all'eventuale scopo tant'è che dopo la seconda Guerra mondiale nessun esercito si è sognato d'usare insetticidi a scopi più o meno bellici usando ed abusando invece del "sarin" come gli statunitensi in Corea Vietnam per non parlare dell'uso di questi gas nelle guerre mediorientali.
