Description
English: Page 4 and 5 of Lucan’s De bello civili (alias Pharsalia), edited by Theodor Pulmann (also Pulman or Poelmann), printed by the Officina Plantiniana (Plantin) and Johannes/Jan Moretus in Antwerp in 1592.
On the left page (4) the end of Pulmann’s foreword, a dedication letter to Nicolaus Rococcius. This foreword is dated (at the end) to 1564, the year of Pulmann’s 1st edition of Lucan’s poem, and treats the cruels of civil wars from ancient Rome to Pulmann’s own time. On the right side (5) begins a short biography (vita) of Lucan.
