DescriptionLucia 1929.png |
English: Sweden's official Lucia in 1929 was the Stockholm girl Gudrun Jern. She was seventeen years old when, after a referendum, she was crowned Sweden's Lucia. The event was organized by Stockholms Dagblad.
The Lucia train passed through Stockholm on the evening of 13 December. About 250 people participated in the train, which in addition to bridesmaids consisted of bridesmaids, star boys, elves, torchbearers and heralds. At Kungsträdgården, from where the Lucia train departed, Katarina entertained the elementary school's large boys' orchestra. Gudrun traveled on a decorated throne drawn by horses and flanked by elves, in procession through Stockholm. The occasion was immortalized by the press photographer Axel Malmström (1872–1945) and can be seen in the picture here. |
