6 June 1808: sale of the collection of Gerrit van der Pot, Heer van Groeneveld, at Gebroeders van Rijp, Rotterdam, lot no. 3 (as ‘Twee Stukken. Hoog 20½, en breed 25 ¾ duim. Dk. / Een Woelende Zee, waarin zich vertoonen zeilende en ſtil liggende groote en kleine Vaartuigen, over al het welke eene Onweersbui heen trekt. Op den voorgrond, ter zijde van het ſtuk, ziet men op het Strand een bevallig Vrouwtje bij een Schipper zitten, terwijl een ander Man, verzeld van zijn hond, iets komt aanbrengen. Verder eenig paalwerk, enz. / Eene wedergade, vertoonende mede een woelend Water met zeilende en ſtil liggende Vaartuigen: vooraan ziet men een Sloep (achter op met den naam van Bakhuiſen pronkende) in welke eenige Heeren zich naar een groot Oorlogſchip laten voeren, dat hooger op voor anker ligr. Verde ziet men hier ook eenig paalwerk, enz. / Deze beide ſtukken zijn meesterlijk geſchilderd, en doen eer aan den, in dit vak, beroemden Meester.’)
