Description
Deutsch: Ludwig Hofer: Flora, klassizistische Rundplastik der Flora auf runder Plinthe, Carrara-Marmor, quaderförmiger Steinsockel, lebensgroß, unbezeichnet, Entstehungsjahr um 1855, ursprünglich: Stuttgart, Villa Berg, unteres Vestibül, nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg: Stuttgart, Städtisches Lapidarium, heute: Stuttgart, Staatsgalerie, Rotunde (als Leihgabe des Städtischen Lapidariums). Erhaltungszustand: gut, jedoch fehlen die unteren Fingerglieder der rechten Hand. Flora, eine junge Frau von schmaler, mädchenhafter Statur, mit sinnlichen klassischen Gesichtszügen und nach vorn gerichtetem Blick, trägt über ihrem lockig nach hinten zum Knoten zurückgebundenen Haarschopf den Blütenkranz, eines der Insignien der römischen Göttin der Blüte und des Frühlings. Sie ist mit einer fußlangen, reich gefältelten Tunika und einer knielangen Toga bekleidet.Die rechte Hand streckt sie wie zum Gruß dem Betrachter entgegen, in der anderen Hand hält sie ein Sträußchen mit Frühlingsblumen, ein weiteres Zeichen ihres göttlichen Auftrags.
