Summary edit

Description
English: This antique Filipino sword (bottom) is believed to have originated from Luzon, as evidenced by its leather scabbard and peened tang.

The photo of the entire bolo is here.

The hardwood hilt is octagonal, and the ferrule is circular and is made of iron. The tooled leather scabbard has shrunk and deteriorated with age.

The small size of the sword makes it easy to conceal. In the attempted assassination of Imelda Marcos in 1972, the attacker used this type of bolo.

Overall length: 415 mm (16.3 inches); Blade length: 275 mm (10.8 inches); Maximum blade thickness: 6 mm (1/4 inch); Scabbard length.: 273 mm (10.7 inches)
